IAOS-IASS Joint Conference conducted during the period

November 29-December 1st, 2004
Amman-Jordan

 

This was the Invitation extended to all statisticians & concerned bodies to attend the IAOS-IASS Conference on: "Poverty, Social Exclusion and Development: a Statistical Perspective", held in Amman, Jordan between November 29-December 1, 2004.
Being the first of its kind in the Country, the Conference delved into one of the most pressing concerns of our time and aimed to illuminate prospects to develop, analyze and assess definitions and methodological approaches to the measurement of poverty and poverty alleviation.

The venue of the Conference, was at Le Royal Hotel-Amman, a member of the leading hotels in the world. This Conference attracted an array of high-level statisticians, researches, data users, consultants and students from all across the Globe. The National Organization Committee (NOC), formed for the purpose of this Conference, prepared a delightful program to ensure that the stay of participants is productive, diverse and an engaging experience, one which would allow them to explore our rich cultural heritage and spectacular ancient sites.

The three-day event also included thematic discussions targeted at young statisticians and was followed by an additional Pan-Arab meeting the next day. An ISI Briefing Seminar for NSO Director Generals was held in Nov. 27-28, 2004.
