Industrial Producers Prices Decrease by 5.9% in October as compared with September 2008

The data issued by the Department of Statistics indicate a decrease in the General Industrial Price Index of the Industrial Producers for October 2008 by 5.9 % as compared with the previous month. This has resulted from a decrease in the manufacturing industries prices by 4.7 % with a relative importance of 82.5 %, the quarrying industries prices by 13.4 % with a relative importance of 11.0 %, while there was an increase in the prices of electricity by 1.0 % with a relative importance of 6.5%.

        Meanwhile, the data indicate an increase in the General Industrial Prices Index for the first ten months of 2008 by 56.3 % as compared with the same period of 2007. This increase has resulted from a rise in the manufacturing industries prices by 53.3 %, quarrying industries by 99.6% and electricity by 24.5 %.

          The data also indicate an increase in the General Industrial Prices Index for October 2008 by 68.6 % as compared with the same month at the previous year. This has resulted from an increase in the manufacturing industries prices by 62.2 %, quarrying industries by 143.9 % and electricity by 30.9 % during the said period.

            It is worthy to mention that the prices of sub-group commodities (Manufacturing of Refined Petroleum Products) have approximately contributed by almost 34.1 % of the total price increase between the two periods. Meanwhile, the sub-activity (Fertilizers & Nitrogen Compounds Production) and (Fertilizer and Chemical Mineral Mining) activity have achieved 31.4 % and 16.9 % respectively.
