1.8 % the average increase in quantities of industrial production during the first ten months of 2008

        The statistical data issued by the Department of Statistics indicate a rise in the General Industrial Production Index by 1.7 % during the first ten months of 2008 as compared with the same period of 2007. This rise has resulted from an increase in quantities of the manufacturing sector by 0.8% with a relative importance of 82.5%, electricity production by 5.2 % with a relative importance of 6.5 % and the quarrying industries by 10.4 % with a relative importance of 11.0 %. 

         The results also indicate an increase in the General Industrial Production Index in October 2008 by 1.8 % compared with the previous month (September 2008). It was a result of an increase in the quantities produced by the manufacturing sector by 3.6%, the quarrying industries sector by 4.0 % and electricity by 11.5 %.    

          Meanwhile, the General Industrial Production Index for October 2008 has increased by 0.2 % as compared with October 2007. This was a result of an increase in the production quantities of the manufacturing sector by 0.4 % and the quarrying industries sector by 17.2%, while the production quantities of Electricity have decreased by 15.8%.
