General Industrial Price Index of Industrial Producers decreases by
16.4% for January 2010 as compared
with January 2009
The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics indicates a decrease in the General Industrial Price Index of the Industrial Producers for January 2010 by (16.4 %) as compared with the same period of 2009. This mainly was a result of a decrease in the manufacturing industries prices by (14.5 %) with a relative importance of 82.5%, the prices of the Quarrying Industries by 26.4% with a relative importance of 11.0% and Electricity by 0.1 % with a relative importance of 6.5%.
The report also indicates an increase in the General Industrial Prices Index for January 2010 by 0.2 % as compared with December 2009. This has resulted from an increase in the manufacturing industries by 0.2 %, quarrying industries by 0.1% and the electricity prices by 0.7%.

It is worthy to mention that the prices of main-group commodities (Refined Petroleum Production) have approximately contributed by 47.3 % of the total price decrease for January 2010 as compared with the same months of 2009.
