5.8% growth of GDP for the first three quarters of 2007

Estimates of GDP for the first three quarters of 2007 compared with the same quarters of last year indicate a growth of 5.8% in constant prices. In current prices, growth is estimated at 11.8%. The value of GDP at current prices reach JD.8253.2 million during the first three quarters of 2007 compared with JD. 7380.4 million during the same period of 2006.Accordingly, inflation increased by the GDP deflator is estimated at 5.7%.

   The majority of the sectors witnessed real growth, notably “Net Taxes on Products”,  “Community, Social and Personal Services”, “Finance, Insurance and Real Estate” and “Construction and Government Services” which grew by 9.4%, 8.9%, 6.8% and 6.3% respectively.

   The Manufacturing Sector grew by 4.7%. Three sectors registered negative growth during the first three quarters of the year, namely Agriculture, “Mining and Quarrying” and “ Producers of Private Non-Profit Services to Households” which retreated by 4.9%, 1.4% and 1.2% respectively.
