Inspired by His Majesty,
King Abdullah II ibn Al
Hussein vision of Jordan and of women’s role in building the
country, the Department of Statistics attaches singular importance to the
development of gender statistics. Needless to say, the Monarch’s aspiration
calls for “activating the Society’s capabilities and involving everyone,
especially youth and women, in the development process. To facilitate
women’s full participation in the political, economic and social life, all
the necessary resources should be made available for them and all the rights
to which they are entitled should be safeguarded”. The Jordanian development
model should be adopted in order to achieve gender equity in all areas. Only
this can vouch for effective women’s participation in the sustainable
development process. The Department intends to incur further expansion in
disseminating gender statistics in a bid to monitor the different qualitative
gaps and identify the extent to which they impact the path of community
development.
Within this perspective,
the Department of Statistics is pleased to present these indicators, which
depicts gender issues in figures and charts and to provide data users with
updated database on women in Jordan. |
