13.9 The average decrease of Industrial Producers Prices for the first nine months of 2009

          The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics indicates a decrease in the General Industrial Price Index of the Industrial Producers for the first nine months of 2009 by 13.9 % as compared with the same period of 2008. This mainly was a result of a decrease in the manufacturing industries prices by 22.4 % with a relative importance of 82.5 % while the prices of the quarrying industries risen by 39.1% with a relative importance of 11.0 % in addition to Electricity by 6.5% with a relative importance of 6.5 %.

             The data also indicate an increase in the General Industrial Prices Index for September 2009 by 0.8 % as compared with the previous month. This has resulted from an increase in the quarrying industries by 1.1 % and electricity by 0.2%, while the manufacturing industries prices decreased by 0.1 %.

              While the General Industrial Prices Index for September 2009 decreased by 32.0% as compared with the same month of 2008. This has resulted mainly from a decrease in the manufacturing industries prices by 37.0%, the quarrying industries by 13.5% and electricity by 0.7%.

            It is worthy to mention that the prices of sub-group commodities (Chemical Minerals, Mining and Fertilizers) have approximately contributed by 34.0 % of the total price decrease for the first nine months of 2009 as compared with the same period of 2008.
