Producers Prices increase by 7.6% in August as compared with July 2008
The data issued by the Department of Statistics indicate an increase in the General Industrial Price Index of the Industrial Producers for July by 7.6 % as compared with the previous month. This has resulted from an increase in the manufacturing industries prices by 6.2 % with a relative importance of 82.5 %, the quarrying industries by 18.4 % with a relative importance of 11.0 %. , While prices of electricity have decreased by 0.02 % with a relative importance of 6.5%.
The data also indicate an increase in the General Industrial Prices Index for August 2008 by 92.1 % as compared with August 2007. This has resulted from an increase in the manufacturing industries prices by 85.8 %, quarrying industries by 178.6 % and electricity by 30.8 %.
Meanwhile, the data indicate an increase in the General Industrial Prices Index for the first eight months of 2008 by 51.7 % as compared with the same period of 2007. This increase has resulted from a rise in the manufacturing industries prices by 50.0 %, quarrying industries by 82.7% and electricity by 23.0 %.
It is worthy to mention that the prices of sub-group commodities (Manufacturing of Refined Petroleum Products) have approximately contributed by 37.6 % of the total price increase between the two periods. Meanwhile, the sub-activity (Fertilizers & Nitrogen Compounds Production) and (Fertilizer and Chemical Mineral Mining) activity have achieved 28.0 % and 15.1 % respectively.
