10.9 % the average increase in quantities of industrial production

          The statistical data issued by the Department of Statistics indicate an increase in the General Industrial Production Index by (10.9 %) for December 2009 as compared with November 2008. This growth resulted from an increase in quantities of the manufacturing sector by (10.3 %) , quarrying  sector by (17.2 %)  and the electricity production quantities  by 14.7 % . 

         The results also indicate a decrease in the General Industrial Production Index in 2009 by 1.6 % compared with 2008. It was a result of a decrease in the quantities produced by the quarrying sector by (28.7 %) with a relative importance of 11.0% , Electricity by (8.1 %) with a relative importance of 6.5% and the production quantities of the manufacturing industries by (1.3 %)  with a relative importance of 82.5%.

        The report also shows an increase of the General Industrial Production Index for 2009 as compared with the same month of 2008 by (4.2 %). This was a result of an increase of the production quantities of the manufacturing sector by (6.7 %), the electricity by (6.9 %) while the quarrying industries decreased by (27.7%).
