The statistical data issued by the Department of Statistics indicate a decrease in the General Industrial Production Index by 2.1 % for the first nine months of 2009 as compared with the same period of 2008. This retreat resulted from a decrease in quantities of the quarrying sector by 27.8 % with a relative importance of 11.0 %, electricity production by 10.3 % with a relative importance of 6.5 %, while the manufacturing industries production quantities went up by 0.8 % with a relative importance of 82.5 %.
The results also indicate a decrease in the General Industrial Production Index in September 2009 by 10.7 % compared with the previous month (August 2009). It was a result of a decrease in the quantities produced by the manufacturing sector by 10.2 %, electricity by 24.6% while, production quantities of the quarrying industries risen by 11.4%.
Meanwhile, quantities of industrial production for September 2009 have decreased by 2.6 % as compared with the same month of 2008 .This was a result of a decrease in the production quantities of the quarrying sector by 50.9 %, Electricity by 15.2%, while the manufacturing industries increased by 3.3 %.
