Introduction
The livestock sector is one of the important agricultural sectors in Jordan for it contributes to employment. Its revenue is considered the main source of income for a considerable number of rural and nomad populations. It also provides citizens with basic products.
The Department was covetous to follow the latest statistical methodologies in data collection, processing and evaluating the indicators related to Livestock sector. This sector is of great importance for policy formulation, future plans and programs to meet the increasing demands on Livestock production, due to population growth, also to bridge the gaps between production and consumption to adjust the Balance of Trade.
Objective
The overall aim of the Livestock Survey is the following:
To provide detailed and comprehensive data about number and characteristics of livestock as of type, sex, breed and age category.
To provide detailed, comprehensive and periodical data about newborn and mortality livestock variables.
To provide data about value of physical inputs used in livestock production, other expenses, quantity and value of livestock production, livestock sector employees number and compensation, other incomes value and value of services rendered to others.
